Creative Color Theory - June 1

Sunday, June 1st
12:30 - 3:00pm

Join local artist Ester Araujo for a comprehensive color theory class through the lense of print and pattern. In this course, students will learn the basics of color theory through hands-on exercises with mixed media and apply their newfound knowledge to create a finished work of art in watercolor. This class is designed to teach students how to hone in their eye for color and further develop their personal taste.

The only supply you'd need is a sample of any color combination you love! It can be paper or fabric. *All other materials are provided for this workshop!

Artist Bio:

Ester Araujo is a multidisciplinary artist currently based in the Charleston area of South Carolina. She received a BFA in Fibers from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2020. Ester paints magical landscapes and nature vignettes with a variety of mediums including gouache, watercolor, and colored pencil. Her work is influenced by nature, textile processes, and animated films and explores connections between rhythms in nature, woven patterns, and mark making. Like building a textile thread by thread, her paintings layer hundreds of brush strokes to emulate undulating blades of grass and the movement of fabric.
